Project launch and press conference
Overview

Initial activities regarding FOOD4HEALTH project (Sustainable and innovative Agro food and fisheries value chain for SMEs cross border market) were presented during 10.12.2019. on University of Montenegro at a press conference which was organized by the Institute of Marine Biology and the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development of Montenegro.
Attendees were addressed by the Rector of the University of Montenegro, prof. dr. Danilo Nikolić, director of the Institute of Marine Biology, dr. Mirko Đurović and director of the Directorate of Fisheries in the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, Slavica Pavlović.

Prof. dr. Nikolić and Slavica Pavlović pointed out that the project aims to improve the production and mariculture farming technology, transferring, sharing and adoption of European quality standards for processing and enhancement of typical and traditional food and fisheries products. The main objective of the project is construction of multifunctional centers in all three countries, whose work will contribute to the development of small and medium enterprises in the field of agriculture and fisheries, the development of cross-border markets of the participating countries, increasing the competitiveness of domestic producers in the regional market, product branding, the geographic origin and linking science and business sectors.

Director of the Institute of Marine Biology dr. Đurović said that the Institute of Marine Biology through infrastructure investment will get the Food4Health laboratory, which will represent the only in vitro hatchery of oysters on the eastern Adriatic coast, which further contributes to competitiveness in scientific research, as well as the progress of mariculture sector in Montenegro.
